:: Casual Kicks ::

You know when you have an image in your mind, but just can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? That’s me. Basically, every day. I spend more time than I care to admit googling and pinteresting different variations of key words, just waiting for the right thing to pop up. Currently, I’m seeking a variation of midi skirts, leopard high heeled booties, and the perfect oversized sweater.

These shoes? Prime example of my patience finally paying off. I loved the tan/gold variations I kept finding, but with as much as I wear any form of sneaker to begin with, I wasn’t about to pay an arm and a leg on a shoe that I might end up hating in a year. I found an incredible black wedge sneaker with a white sole, but it just didn’t seem right for me. (Such a Goldilocks!) Finally, I just happened to be roaming aimlessly through Kohl’s with my mom and these jumped out at me for a whopping $34.99. Why hadn’t I thought of silver to begin with?! Not only are these the most comfortable shoes I own, but they are perfect for Thunder games and even better as my set-up shoes on the day of events! You might think the wedge would be uncomfortable, but it’s actually quite cushiony and thus far, has served me well. This is a trend I never saw myself succumbing to, but I am SO glad I did!

:: Mad for Plaid ::

I will openly admit that I am one of those people who gets mad when stores pull out their Christmas stock before Thanksgiving has even breathed post-Halloween. However, this year – I’m a holly, jolly, nutcracker-loving, hippopotamus wanting, chestnut roaster waiting under the mistletoe in a marshmallow world. It started with this beautiful dishtowel I bought from Anthropologie. Then, the twinkling multi-colored Christmas lights found their way into my basket at Walgreens. Finally, it was the realization that I get to wear my holiday themed clothes but once a year and oh ┬áby gosh by golly, it’s time for mistletoe and holly!

I bought this skirt on sale from J.Crew last year for – wait for it – $19.99! I was just ecstatic. It’s such a fun plaid print, but it doesn’t scream Christmas SO loudly that you can only wear it in December. Of course, it was so cold out that we resorted to the beautiful Skirvin Hotel downtown – and what do you know, but they’ve decked the halls and created a life-sized gingerbread house. This Grinch’s heart grew three sizes upon seeing the festive decor, and now I’m ready to extend Christmas into the new year! What are you wearing for the holidays?!
