:: Take a Napa ::

However, in these pants… I could really go either way!

After spending a weekend in the Dallas patio heat, I totally understand why women brunch in Lulu Lemon. They don’t do it because it makes their butt look awesome (even though those pants are the next best thing to a plastic surgeon), they do it because the fabric is sweat wicking and they look like they are glowing instead of dripping. I was a shining example of the latter.

What I love about these pants, is that they are socially acceptable. They are as soft as pajamas, but make me feel like I should be sipping wine in Napa! When my friend Josh lived in LA, I visited for a week and we took a trip to the Santa Ynez Valley to see Los Olivos and Solvang – two of my most favorite places ever.

I fell in love with the most adorable dutch town where we ate fabulous danishes, baked fresh from I kid you not – a building that looked like a windmill. We roamed from tasting room to tasting room, trying dozens of wines and playing the part of tourist. However, the adorable clutch that Josh insisted I must get, turned out to be the wine tote I’m toting around.

Napa – I’m ready for ya!

:: Pattern Play ::

Remember being a kid and you would put all sorts of different patterns together while dressing yourself, and it was ok, because you were a kid?

Meet my generation – the group who grew up and decided to keep pairing weird things together, just because they could.

The most beautiful thing I have learned from my generation’s use of pattern play, is that you can literally wear anything, and if you wear it with confidence, no one will say a word. Seriously – it will not only look natural, but you’ll be lauded for being the torchbearer of the laissez-faire. Have you seen the photos from SXSW? Nothing goes together, but it looks so fab because the people wearing it absolutely do not care. Very “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” no?

That’s not the only lesson I have learned. Here are a few important tidbits collected from the outfit below.

Never wear your hair down with a sequined top – you’ll practically be bald by the end of the day. Always buy shoes in your actual size. As you can tell by my beloved red suede pumps, either my foot shrunk or I still believed I wore an 8 when I scooped up my sale selections. Also – this crossover between harem pants and a trouser are the socially acceptable form of sweatpants. I pray they never go out of style!

:: Knot Bad ::

People. It’s cold out there. However, a Thundersnow storm could not keep us from brunching, even if we were still freezing by the fireplace!

I love nothing more than combining comfort with chic, and layering up with a turban headband, multiple pearls, a warm faux leather/shearling coat, plus my trusty Hunters did the trick. I searched high and low over eight months for the perfect turban headband, nearly giving up after numerous stores did not have what I was seeking. I’m an online shopper, but when it comes to things or brands I am less familiar with – I’ve gotta try it on!

I took a gamble on an Etsy shop, The Hairess, and was so very pleased with the product! It totally goes with everything, and fixes any bad bangs days (PRAISE THE LORD). Looks like we’ll be seeing  a lot of this little gem in the future…

:: Staley Love Story ::

This past weekend was a whirlwind – but so wonderful, and I’m clearly in post-SD depression now that it’s over! To even begin to describe Bayley and Craig’s wedding would never do it justice. It was truly the most perfect day, with a 4 pm wedding on the beach, an amazing cocktail hour including a sand castle sculptor, and a reception which featured the bride taking over the mic and rapping until the wee hours of the night. Oh, and a photo booth that makes actual photo “booths” look average. Bayley is five years older than me, so I grew up idolizing her, and the Staley’s special day was very special for our whole family. Here are a few highlights, with more being found on my Instagram account @paperdollblog! {Photos courtesy of Carlos}
