I grew up in the era of Ren and Stimpy, when Kel was professing his undying love for Orange Soda, and a boy was sneaking into Clarissa’s bedroom while she explained it all. And we wonder what’s wrong with Lindsay Lohan! Clearly, I wasn’t allowed to watch any of these shows – but that was ok (with the exception of Friends, I totally snuck upstairs and kept the volume on low to see if Ross and Rachel were EVER going to end up together). While most of my friends kept up with Nickelodeon, I was being… different.

When I invited my friends over, I always suggested we re-enact the entire four hours of glory that is Gone With the Wind. I, of course, would play Scarlett O’Hara – wearing the blue frock I donned for a class field trip to Rose Hill School (it was at this moment that I told my mom the corset wasn’t tight enough, and she promptly informed me it was a belt, not a corset…. dreams crushed!), though the bonnet we were forced to wear was not included in my Scarlett attire. I would take an old dress-up hat (very Kentucky Derby), and wrap a swimsuit sarong around it, securing it in a perfect bow just under my chin. I know. You’re wondering how some 1999 Rhett Butler didn’t just sweep me off my feet. I’m baffled as well.

When I spotted this skirt, my childhood dreams came flashing back. I could just picture myself in the full, emerald velvet skirt with golden tassels hanging from my seventeen-inch waist. Maybe I don’t have that seventeen-inch waist, but I am the proud new owner of a gorgeous, full, modern-day Scarlett O’Hara inspired skirt.

And I didn’t even have to ruin my mother’s drapes for it!

You know when you have an image in your mind, but just can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? That’s me. Basically, every day. I spend more time than I care to admit googling and pinteresting different variations of key words, just waiting for the right thing to pop up. Currently, I’m seeking a variation of midi skirts, leopard high heeled booties, and the perfect oversized sweater.

These shoes? Prime example of my patience finally paying off. I loved the tan/gold variations I kept finding, but with as much as I wear any form of sneaker to begin with, I wasn’t about to pay an arm and a leg on a shoe that I might end up hating in a year. I found an incredible black wedge sneaker with a white sole, but it just didn’t seem right for me. (Such a Goldilocks!) Finally, I just happened to be roaming aimlessly through Kohl’s with my mom and these jumped out at me for a whopping $34.99. Why hadn’t I thought of silver to begin with?! Not only are these the most comfortable shoes I own, but they are perfect for Thunder games and even better as my set-up shoes on the day of events! You might think the wedge would be uncomfortable, but it’s actually quite cushiony and thus far, has served me well. This is a trend I never saw myself succumbing to, but I am SO glad I did!

I’ve worn a lot of pants in my life. From sequins to fringe, bell bottoms to boyfriends, and leather to custom painted (these really exist – TWO pairs), I’ve tried just about every style. However, this new trend is by far my favorite. Not only do these pants have the holy grail of all clothing items – pockets (isn’t it the absolute worst when pants psych you out with the itlaysflatterbecauseitdoesnthavearealpocket thing?), they have everything else you could ever want. A wild print, plus eye-catching neons, and a lightweight fabric so moveable that I may just wear them daily. And to bed. And back to work again. No shame.

To top it off? A STRETCHY WAISTBAND!

If you are a donut-loving, pizza-eating, cookies-n-cream craving gal like me, you’ll appreciate a pair of pants that are not just stylish, but can be worn on the most delicious of Thanksgiving Days. After my healthy eating kick (no, I’m not the resolution type – but the holidays are too busy to take proper care of myself), I’m already looking forward to that glorious day when I can pig out. Until then, you’ll be seeing me pretend to be sporty in these fancy joggers and sweating like Richard Simmons in the gym downstairs! But most definitely not both at once. That just wouldn’t be right!

As we were leaving for the Bahamas, I intended to come home with no less than seven blog posts. If it had been a New Year’s resolution, I would have epically failed. If you know me at all, you should know that I am NEVER on time when it comes to being ready – particularly when I think there might be a bit of leeway. Sure, I can make it to all business meetings or other appointments, but from dinners to basketball games, I am always late. Hence: “I’ll be ready in five minutes.”

On one of the seven days we were on vacation, these photos come from the one night I was early. By early, I mean that dinner probably was set for 7:00 and Taylor told me it was at 6:30. If this is true, then after four years, he totally understands how I function! It was so humid that this hair-do became my staple, and now I’ve forgotten how to do anything else. What’s your easy-go-to-up-do?!

If absence makes the heart grow fonder, you simply must adore me now! To say December was a crazy month would be a complete understatement. December was busier than my days of being a sorority president, campus activities leader, pageant competitor, spokesperson with two internships and college student all at once. I work in the event production business and we had such a wonderfully wild month that we took two weeks off post-holidays, plus I’ve been on island time! I am SO happy to be back, even though the frozen tundra that is New York Fashion Week beckons my name. (Can’t you hear it?!)

Have you ever been to Atlantis? If not, drop what you’re doing and jump on a plane now! Taylor’s family was so kind to invite me to join them in the Bahamas, even though it now means that their son can’t afford my good taste, after being spoiled by his dad’s excellent selections in wine, food, wine, dessert, and more really amazing wine. Not only did we have the most incredible dinners, but I joined the boys at the craps tables and, with a bit of a lot of advice, will soon be purchasing my dream shoes with my winnings! Our timing was excellent as well, since we missed the polar vortex and instead of a parka, I got to sport this fun find from Pemba Boutique!

Whether over my swimsuit or thrown on for exploring the resort, I adore my new romper! Seriously. Pineapples and pom poms? I die! Take a peak at their other great finds here!
